What moves me most about Karen's work is it's duality. On the surface, the imagery feels familiar and accessible-home, nature, creature, nostalgia. But beneath that accessibility is depth. Subtle insight. A layered perspective that reveals itself slowly.
Her pen drawings are intricate without being indulgent. The detail serves meaning. The restraint of black and white sharpens the emotional impact rather than softens it. There is someting both protective and exposing in her work, as if the subjects are being observed and understood at the same time.
